U.S. Army Reserve Center
Fort Carson, Colorado
Project Overview
Reliant Construction completed a 45,000-square-foot U.S. Army Reserve Center at Fort Carson, Colorado, using a fully integrated design-build delivery method. Developed in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the project leveraged Building Information Modeling (BIM) to drive coordination, efficiency, and accuracy from concept through completion.
With a contract value of $14.6 million, this facility plays a critical role in supporting the readiness, training, and operational effectiveness of Army Reserve personnel.
Scope of Work
Reliant provided comprehensive design and construction services, including:
- Integrated design-build delivery with BIM coordination
- Construction of a secure armory and reinforced concrete vault
- Warehouse and operational support spaces
- Administrative offices, classrooms, conference rooms, and library
- Full site development, including grading, utilities, parking, lighting, and landscaping
Why This Project Matters
Army Reserve Centers are essential to maintaining a force that is ready to respond at a moment’s notice. This facility provides the infrastructure needed for training, coordination, and secure operations, ensuring personnel have the resources required to perform effectively in both domestic and global missions.
From secure storage systems to modern training environments, every element of the facility supports mission readiness, safety, and long-term operational efficiency. Its LEED Silver certification also reflects a commitment to sustainable, cost-effective performance over the life of the building.
Challenges & Execution
Projects of this nature present a unique set of challenges, requiring precision, coordination, and strict compliance at every stage. This facility demanded:
- Adherence to federal and military standards, including stringent security requirements
- Integration of high-security components, such as a reinforced concrete vault and armory
- Complex MEP systems requiring thorough commissioning and verification
- Coordination across multiple stakeholders, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
- Seamless alignment between design and construction to avoid delays and rework
Reliant addressed these challenges through a proactive, integrated approach. By leveraging design-build delivery, the team maintained clear communication and accountability from start to finish. BIM technology played a key role in identifying and resolving potential conflicts early, reducing inefficiencies during construction.
Close collaboration with the Corps of Engineers ensured all systems were installed, tested, and commissioned to meet rigorous performance standards. This level of coordination allowed the project to move forward efficiently while maintaining the highest levels of quality and compliance.
Results
- Delivered a secure, mission-ready facility aligned with military requirements
- Achieved LEED Silver certification for sustainability and efficiency
- Maintained tight coordination and quality control across all phases
- Successfully executed a complex, high-security project with precision and reliability
