La Junta Rural Fire Training Facility
La Junta , Colorado

Reliant Construction completed the ground-up construction of a new training facility for the La Junta Rural Fire Protection District, delivering a durable and highly functional building designed to support hands-on emergency response training.

The project began with the demolition of an existing structure, followed by full site preparation including excavation, grading, and installation of an aggregate base to support both the building and surrounding access areas. A reinforced concrete foundation and slab-on-grade system were then constructed, providing a strong and reliable base for the facility.

The building was constructed using a pre-engineered metal building system, selected for its efficiency, strength, and long-term performance. Structural steel framing and erection were completed in accordance with engineered drawings, along with installation of a standing seam roof, insulated wall systems, and key exterior components.

Key exterior and structural elements included

  • Pre-engineered metal building system (Varco Pruden)
  • Standing seam roof and insulated wall panels
  • Overhead doors, windows, and exterior access points
  • Protective bollards and site concrete improvements

Inside the facility, Reliant Construction completed a full interior build-out tailored to the demands of an active training environment. The space was designed for durability and functionality, incorporating materials and finishes that can withstand heavy, repeated use.

Interior construction and finishes included:

  • Metal stud framing, drywall, and insulation
  • Acoustical ceilings and painted wall systems
  • Ceramic tile wainscot and sealed flooring
  • Installation of doors, frames, and hardware throughout

Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were fully integrated to support both operational needs and training scenarios. These systems were designed to ensure reliability, safety, and compliance with applicable codes.

Building systems included:

  • Plumbing systems with ADA-compliant restrooms and showers
  • Trench drains and sand/oil interceptor for training use
  • HVAC systems including furnaces, unit heaters, and ventilation
  • Complete electrical system with new service, lighting, and fire alarm installation

The final phase of the project included finish work, system testing, and completion of punch list items to ensure all components met quality standards and project requirements.

The completed facility provides a modern, reliable environment for firefighter training and emergency preparedness. Built with a focus on durability and performance, the structure will support the La Junta Rural Fire Protection District in serving its community for years to come.
